The Thermal Baths
This was already a well-known thermal baths centre in Roman times with numerous curative mineral springs.
The ancient thermal baths of Stabia are still frequented, as well as the new thermal "Solaro" of Stabia.
Special mention should be made of the 16th century Duomo (Cathedral) the Chiesa del Gesu' (1615), the Angevin Castle, the Grotto of S.Biagio and the Antiquarium Stabiano (Stabian Museum) which houses the archaeological finds from the excavations which are still in progress.
From Castellammare di Stabia the visitor may conveniently take the cable car to Monte Faito (1100 metres above sea-level) which is densely covered by a rich and varied Alpine-type of vegetation.
